Starting your Stack |
Once you have your images, textual information, and maybe a list of Internet address
resources in hyperlink in the stack for more information you are ready to create your stack. |
1. Decide Stack Dimensions |
You have to decide what dimensions you need for your stack. If you have a lot of
information you want to put in each card, then you may consider a larger size stack,
such as 640 x 480. Otherwise you might stick to a smaller stack such as the default
size of 512 x 384. |
| You can set your card dimensions when you first create a new stack. |
To give you an idea of what the actual card size will look like, here are two examples.
This card is the actual size of the standard size card of 512 x 384: |
 |
| This card is the actual size of a card with "640 x 480 dimensions. |
 |
Once you have started putting in the lesson content, you may see that you need to allow more space and need a bigger card size. If you need to change the card size, you can do this by going to Objects>About This Stack and change the card size.
Just be aware that when you change the stack it will change any of the graphics you have already put in the stack as well. If you make the stack larger, the graphics will be larger too. You can always delete these graphics and re-insert them at the normal size. |
 |
Remember that you set your card dimensions when you first created your stack in Unit 2. Go to Objects>About This Stack to change the card dimensions
Click on Change # of colors or size...This will bring up the Stack Size and Color Depth window where you can select the new card size.
|
 |
| You will see this Stack Size and Color Depth box which appeared when you as when you selected your card dimension choices upon first creating the new stack. |
 |
2. Create a New Stack
|
To create your stack you need to launch the HyperStudio software. Remember you will see the Tip of the Day opening card after HyperStudio opens up. There are two ways you can create a new stack once you come to this card.
|
 |
From this card you have the choice to:
Click on the TV box to Start a New Stack
or
|
|
Go to File>New Stack to start a new stack. |
 |
Once you have a new stack started, you can always create another one while in the
current stack. If you want to keep the stack you are currently in you will have to save
the stack before creating the new one. To start a new stack you need to:
- Go to File> New Stack
- Set the stack size when you see the
box appear.
|
| Set your preferences |
If you have never worked in HyperStudio you may want to set some preferences.
Once the preferences are set, every time you open up the program, these preferences
will still be intact unless you go in and change them.To set the preferences you need to
go to Edit>Preferences on the main menu at the top of the card. |

Name and Save Your Stack |
When you start new stack and a blank card pops up, you have begun the process of
creating a lesson or project. That initial card you see is your "first card". After that you
have to add additional cards.
|
To add more cards, go to Edit> New Card or >Ready-Made Cards .
If you have a card with a particular background image, color, or paint scene, you can
copy that exact card background to a new card. |
