Practice Session Instructions

Examples of Using Ghostwriter- Cards 1-4

Cards 5-8 Begins the Practice section

Download & save your practice stack to your desktop. Open the Practice Stack: Roll Credits.

Card 1

Click Begin to start the practice session.
Card 2
This card goes over the steps to adding Ghost Writer.
Card 3

This card shows some examples using Ghost Writer.

 

Click on each text object/box to activate the applied Ghost Writer action.

You can add the NBA Ghost Writer to the text object itself or you can have a graphic or a button activate a specific text object (that is named). Be sure you do not have an "untitled" text object on the card or Ghost Writer may put the text in that text object because the un-named text object is the most active text field available.
Card 4

This card shows some of the text message "disappearing".

 

This is a feature you can add by typing in the @ symbol for each letter you want to disappear. You may have to experiement with this.

This card begins the practice section.
Card 5
This card covers how to add Ghost Writer to a Text Object
Add Ghost Writer to a Text Object

1. Double-click on the text object on the scroll.

 

Notice the name of the text object is textobj1. This will bring up the Text Appearance box.

Be sure you use the arrow tool to edit and the browse tool to test out any actions added. You also need to have the browse tool selected to click on the arrow to go to the next card.
2. Click on Actions.
3. Click on New Button Actions under Things to Do.

4. Select Ghost Writer from the list.

 

Then click " Use this NBA".

5. Type in this text:

May the adventure never end.

Bye!@@@@ {textobj1}


*The @ will delete the word Bye!.

 

 

Click OK on the New Button Actions box when finished. Click OK again. Then click DONE on the Actions box to finish.

6. Test your actions that were added to this card.

 

Click on the arrow tool to edit and the browse tool to test out any actions added.


Card 6

This card covers how to add Ghost Writer to a graphic object.

 

On this card you will add Ghost Writer to a graphic object to activate the text box.

Add Ghost Writer Action to a Graphic Object
1. Double-click on the computer boy graphic.
2. Go to ACTIONS.
3. Click on New Button Actions.
4. Pick Ghost Writer from the list.
5. Add this text:
Hey Look I can type with no hands!
Remember:
*Ghost Writer will write the text on an active text object if it is not named. Because this text object is the only one on the card and is not named it is considered the only active text object.
*You will not need to type in the @ sign unless you want to change the default speed of 5.
6. Click on the Browse tool to test the action added.
Since you have not used the automatic timer, so you can just click on the graphic to make the action ork. You can choose a timer action from the automatic timer if you wish, but you will have to go to another card and come back to that card to activate the action.

Card 7

This card will cover how to add Ghost Writer to a button to activate the text object.
Add Ghost Writer to a button to activate the text object.
1. Double-click on the button provided. Select #5 for an invisible button.
2. Go to ACTIONS.
3. Click on New Button Actions.
4. Pick Ghost Writer from the list.

5. Add a short message of your own. Click OK to get out of New Button Actions box.

Click OK again.

6. When you get back to the Actions box-
Click on Automatic Timer.

Choose an option

 

 

Click Done.

7. Click on Browse tool to test. Click on back arrow. Then click on forward arrow to come back to this card. The action should work according to your settings (as soon as card is shown or after so many seconds).
Remember:
*Ghost Writer will write the text on an active text object if it is not named. Because this text object is the only one on the card and is not named it is considered the only active text object.
* You will not need to type in the @ sign unless you want to change the default speed of 5.
Card 8
This card completes the practice stack. Be sure to save your stack in your practice stack folder before clicking on the Exit button.
That completes Unit 3 New Button Actions. There are many more new button actions... be sure to try some of them out. You can only learn more as you practice.
