Practice Session: Adding a Text Object
Let's practice adding a text object.
Go to Objects>Add a text Object.
You will see a box with red moving dashes. When you see the 4-way arrow you can move the box around.
Try it! (Click on the box with the 4-way arrow, hold the mouse button down and move the box around)
Now click anywhere ON the card to complete inserting the text object.
(The Text Appearance dialog box will appear where you can edit your text object.)
Click on different boxes on the Text Appearance dialog box to see how they work
.
For now you will not need to check Read Only, this option will make it where the text object is "uneditable" or no one else can edit the object. You make objects, "read only" after you have completed the stack and it is ready to use.
Select the text tool on the Tools Palette so you can type on the text box.
When you see the cursor you can type in the text box.
Type something in the text box this in the text box- like maybe "To insert a text object, go to Objects>Add a Text Object."
Now highlight and copy this text bit of information, then paste the text into the text box.
start typing your info. If you have a lot of information to write, you can use this scroll bar. The text box can also be resized smaller to fit on your card where all the text is not seen unless you scroll down to read.
TIP! You can always change the type of font, text style, alignment, size, or color using the Text Appearance box or using the FORMAT menu.
Try resizing your text object (text box). Roll the cursor over the text box until the 4-way arrow turns into a 2-way arrow. Hold down the mouse button and drag the dotted line in/out or up/down, depending on which "wall" of the box is being resized.
**To check how to resize an object you may review this video.
**You can also go back to review the info on resizing objects on
Unit 1: Lesson 2
TIP! **The text color and background color of the text object can also be selected. To change the type of font, you must click on the STYLE button.
Go to the next card where you will edit the type of font, the text color, size, style and alignment.
