Part 1: Add Stack Content

Adding Stack Content

Now it is time to add the content for your lesson. When adding content to your cards you must be careful how you position your images and text. Try to line up the graphics and the text as if you were using a ruler to keep the content in line.

Alignment & Position of Content

You can put a title or heading on the card. This heading can be left-aligned, centered, or even right-aligned. You may want to move the text object and graphic around to see which position will look best.

Try to be consistent where you position the text and graphics on each card in the stack.
Adding Buttons to Navigate
You need to add buttons to the cards so the student can navigate through the lesson. Cards can be created as you think of them, but you do not have to create the cards in the sequential order the student will go through the lesson. If you decide to add some content, you can select which card you want to connect the current one to by going to "Another Card" under Places to Go on the ACTIONS dialog box when a button is added to the card.

Once you click "Another card", the Move to Card box will appear so you can browse through the cards you have created and select the card that is next in the lesson when the NEXT button is clicked. After the next card is selected, you will have to choose the transition for going to the next card.

Adding Multimedia Elements

Your lesson can include various multimedia elements to enhance or aid the instruction such as video, sound, hyperlinks to the Internet or to open a document. You can also apply path animation to any graphic. This will make the graphic "move" on a specified path on the card. Path animation adds a little spice to your lesson or project. To find out more about using path animation go to this lesson in the tutorial-- Using Path Animation.

Adding Sound

Sound can also be added. You can add sound to a graphic so it will look like the graphic is talking. You can use text to say "click to listen" or use an icon that you can choose when you add the button. The speaker graphic lets the students know something is available to hear when clicking on the speaker. The automatic timer can also be used to make the "narration" of the text on the card be heard. You can set the automatic timer to occur as soon as the student arrives on that card OR after a specified number of seconds.

To record the narration yourself the window sound recorder can be used. You will need to go to Start>Accessories> Entertainment>Sound Recorder to open up the sound recorder. There is a time limit on how much you can record at a time, but this tool is very easy to use. Using the sound recorder does not take any special recording skills, just save the file with a name you will recognize. Also save the file in your content folder with the rest of your project files for the lesson.

Using sound for the information on a card can be a good way to help students that may have a learning disability or hearing disability. Other students may be auditory learners and just may like to listen to the lesson content. Using graphics add to the content on the card.

Adding Hyperlinks

You can add other elements to your lesson such as hyperlinks to more information on a topic, places to research on the Internet, or link to another stack such as a quiz for the lesson. To find out more about how to hyperlink text or graphics on the card go to this lesson in the tutorial--

Using Hyperlinks.

Other items can be added to enhance your lesson such as a hyperlink to a .PDF or word processing document. Just add an image to let the student know that a document is available. When the icon/graphic is clicked the document will open.
